With increasingly strict environmental protection regulations around the world, leakage prevention of underground fuel tanks has become a core requirement for gas station construction and renovation. The SF double-walled fuel tank has gradually replaced traditional single-layer steel tanks and become the mainstream storage equipment for modern gas stations. Many purchasers and construction engineers still have questions about its structure, safety features and applicable industry standards.
An SF double-walled tank consists of an inner steel tank and an outer FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) shell. There is a continuous interlayer space between the inner and outer walls. This interlayer can be equipped with real-time leakage monitoring sensors. Once the inner tank has fuel leakage or the outer shell is damaged by underground corrosion, the monitoring system will immediately send out an alarm signal. This design effectively prevents fuel from seeping into soil and groundwater, avoiding serious environmental pollution incidents.
Compared with traditional single steel tanks, SF double-wall tanks have three prominent advantages. First of all, the double-layer structure greatly improves anti-leakage performance and protects underground soil and water resources. Secondly, the outer FRP layer provides stable protection against underground corrosion from soil, moisture and chemical substances, extending the service life of the tank. Thirdly, the supporting leakage monitoring system realizes 24-hour real-time monitoring, so operators can discover hidden dangers at the earliest stage instead of waiting for large-scale leakage.
The manufacturing and installation of SF double-walled fuel tanks must comply with multiple industry specifications. In China, projects follow AQ3020 and GB50156-2021 standards for gas station design and construction. For overseas export orders, we can produce tanks that meet UL58 requirements to match international market demands. It is worth noting that a double-wall structure does not mean the tank can work without maintenance. The leakage detector needs regular calibration and inspection to guarantee stable operation.

Zhongneng Huajian supplies complete SF double-wall fuel tanks, together with matching accessories, leakage monitoring systems and professional installation guidance. We support both new gas station construction and old station reconstruction projects that replace single-layer tanks. Our factory strictly conducts pressure tests and interlayer leakage inspections before delivery.
